The Portage and District Arts Centre's Celebration of the Arts Gala was a big success last night at the William Glesby Centre in Portage la Prairie. The gala was a fundraiser for the PDAC that included dinner, live entertainment and ended with live art auction. PDAC Marketing and Events Coordinator Lee Beaton says it was a great night from start to finish, with a lot of money raised in the end.

"The night was awesome! The crowd was incredible, the artwork was fantastic, the food was phenomenal and the energy in the room was exceptional. With the community help, we were able to raise some money to continue with our programming here at the arts centre. We're just so thankful for everybody that has supported us in every way, whether it be the artists themselves or the patrons who came here tonight and bid on the items, because it was a phenomenal evening."

The PDAC gala was a first for new Executive Director Paul Legris, and he says he had a really good time.

"It was great! It was a lot of fun! Auctions are exciting and it's been a long time since I've been to one, but the energy was great. I loved the exchange, I loved the banter that the auctioneer had with the audience, and there was some great art, so it's really inspiring! I don't know exactly how much we raised, but it was great. We do this not just for the money, of course, we do this for the community so people can come out and be a part of what we do."
