Portage la Prairie's going to be featured in an upcoming feature film this spring, and you can get your way onto the big screen as part of it.

There's a casting call set for the Thriller 'Break My Heart 1000 Times' this weekend at Stride Place. The film will be shot in Portage in April and the casting department is inviting people of all ethnicity, males and females ages 18-80, to attend the event March 4th.

"Saturday from 11 until 2 they'll be doing casting calls here at Stride Place," says Portage Regional Recreation Authority General Manager David Sattler. "Anyone who's interested in the movie being filmed locally over the next while can come down. They'll have application forms here to fill out, and they're looking for people of all ages and demographics who might be looking for some experience in the movie industry."

The casting team is looking to hire up to 300 paid extras throughout the film shoot. they're looking for a variety of wholesome, friendly looking people from all ethnic backgrounds to play regular town folk, students, families, mothers, fathers, grandmas and grandpas.

"We haven't had a casting call quite this size," adds Sattler. "I know for the past movies we've had here because luckily we've had four filmed out of Stride Place, they've had smaller versions but nothing in this scale."

Get to Stride Place at 11 a.m. this Saturday, with a recent snapshot of yourself.
