Manitoba's latest flood report seems balanced, according to the RM of Cartier's reeve.

Dale Fossay says it was nice to see everyone along the lower Assiniboine being thought of in the report.

"I found the report generally favourable in the concept that it recognizes that more water down the Assiniboine does impact the grain producers. So I thought it was a balanced report because there are many stakeholders like cottage owners along Lake Manitoba, ranchers, and there's some folks along the lower Assiniboine that farm. So I thought the report took a balanced approach recognizing there's many stakeholders."

Fossay says there's a real demand from residents for an extra outlet on Lake Manitoba.

"I think that seems to be the key everywhere. If Lake Manitoba can be brought down then the Portage Diversion can be used more. Again, a lot of inches to balance off. We're watching it very closely, during the last election process our residents made it very clear."

He adds it seems to be very dependent on the height of Lake Manitoba.
