Tomorrow's the deadline for Canada 150 applications through the Community Foundation of Portage and District.

Executive Director Mary Lynn Moffat says between CFPD, the Community Foundation of Canada, and matching funds by applicants, the potential impact on the community could be significant.

"So if you're asking for $2000 from the Canada 150 Fund," she says, " You have to have $2000 either in cash or in kind toward the project. So, in total, it could be $60,000 worth of activity or programs for our district, so that's really exciting."

The Community Foundation of Portage and District, and the Community Foundation of Canada, have each contributed $15,000.

Moffat says even now, they're receiving calls about possible projects.

"Asking about details, asking questions about what they need in the application, and so on," and she stresses, "The application itself is fairly simple, and it's not too overwhelming. You do have to have some information -- you have to have a description of your project, you have to have a budget, and it you have any questions, please give us a call at the Foundation, and we'll try and help you."

Here's where you go online, and the Foundation's number is 204-856-1971.
