UPDATE: The burning ban has since been lifted. The municipality asks that you use extreme caution when burning.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Municipality of Glenboro South Cypress has implemented a burning ban, effective as of today.

The ban extends to all outdoor burning within the municipality, including fires contained within fire pits and burning barrels. The municipality will be imposing a $500 minimum penalty for anyone disregarding the ban, plus any costs incurred by the municipality should the fire department be called to extinguish a blaze.

The ban is due to dry conditions in the region and will remain in effect until further notice.
