Portage la Prairie's business community is being put to the test for this year's edition of Beautification Days. Portage la Prairie and District Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Cindy McDonald says they've teamed up with the Portage Community Revitalization Corporation to put out a challenge for businesses to clean up the city on Thursday. McDonald says while it's a chance for businesses to show their pride in Portage, they're also going to be recognizing those who make the biggest impact.

"Whether it's their business or they choose another area to get out there and get involved, it's going to be a fun challenge. This year we're giving out the first ever 'I Heart Portage' award. It's going to be a fantastic award and whatever business wins get the bragging rights and the award."

She notes while businesses can clean up their storefronts, they can also go to an area of the city that has a high need for litter pick-up or other work.

"We want to get them involved in the whole community, and most of the businesses are amazing and want to be involved. This is the chance for them to really get out there and prove to the community that they love Portage as much as everybody else."

She's hoping to see some friendly competition during the Beautification Days, while also creating a cleaner city. Those hoping to enter the competition need to submit before and after photos to PCRC Community Engagement Coordinator Stefanie McKim.
