The Member of Parliament for Selkirk-Interlake-Eastern has some concerns about the prime minister's refusal to commit to an extension of Canada's military training mission in Ukraine. James Bezan says some of those concerns stem from the fact that our defence minister didn't accompany Justin Trudeau on his recent trip to Kiev, noting the Defence Cooperation Agreement which the Conservative government had previously worked on wasn't even on the table. Bezan says the Liberal government has also cancelled the sharing of enhanced satellite photo imaging with Ukraine, which he describes as troubling because we're seeing so much Russian aggression in the region. He adds that information had been helping protect civilians and Ukrainian troops, as it made it possible for them to monitor Russian movement across the border.

Bezan says another concern centers on the fact that the president of Ukraine asked the Canadian government to extend the two hundred military trainers we have in western Ukraine. He notes Justin Trudeau essentially shrugged off the request and would not commit to extending that mission past 2017.
