A Portage la Prairie youth got to experience Parliament Hill in Ottawa thanks to Big Brother Big Sisters Canada.

108 youth were flown to Ottawa to the Youth In Office event for a chance to meet and greet the PM and some MP's. 15-Year-Old Cassie Emberly got to take in the event and outlines how it went after they made it to Ottawa.

"The first day was orientation, then the second day we met with (MP's and the PM's) assistants and then we got tours of the place. Then we went down and talked with the MP's then we went into the House of Commons and listened to some debates."

She says she left with a new respect for politics.

"Being involved in politics is important because the choices they're making are the ones that decide our future pretty much. It was a really good learning opportunity."

Emberly explains a couple of her highlights.

"Meeting Justin Trudeau was pretty cool, and seeing the tunnels underneath the Parliament Building. It was cool to meet who runs the country, and who makes all the decisions, especially because he's the Minister of Youth also."

She adds after the trip she has a new found respect for politics, as the MP's and PM decide what our future will look like.
