The Viterra opening banquet took place Tuesday night before the Provincial Men's Curling Championships began in Portage la Prairie, and bagpiper Leyton Bennet led the dignitaries into the banquet hall. Bennet says it was exhilarating.

"It feels really good because you see the smiles on the faces of the people that love the sport," Bennet explains. "And it's really great to help them achieve that and feel that much better about what they're doing out there."

He adds the clapping of the crowd upon his entrance brought a livelier feeling to the atmosphere, knowing everyone thoroughly enjoyed it making things quite fun.
