The 38th annual Portage la Prairie Rotary Club Vegetable has wrapped up for another year. The annual fundraiser for the club's community projects took place over over days last week, ending on Saturday. Vegetable Sale Chair James Bolton says it was a great year for the sale, especially with the warm weather. He notes part-way through the final dale of the sale, they began to run out of a few types of vegetables.

"Our goal again is to do similar to what we did last year, which was around the $15,000 mark. Early indications let us know we're on pace for that."

It was a strong year for the sale, with many in attendance for the first day. They saw some delays, resulting in quite the line-up to kick off the sale. Bolton says they're always thrilled with the support they see for the sale, noting it's beneficial to both the organization, and those purchasing the vegetables.

"The mood has been very positive. People recognize it's a fundraiser for us, and that we do good things for the community. Plus, from their perspective the pricing is very ideal for them. It's a win-win for everybody."

The annual vegetable sale's raised about $235,000 since its inaugural year, and continues to be a major draw. Bolton notes not only do they see many coming from the immediate area, but they've even seen customers coming from as far as Thompson in the past
