Until you know how to read the signs, civic addressing may not make a lot of sense.

That's from RM of Armstrong Reeve Jack Cruise who explains they've received quite a few calls from local rate payers who have been experiencing difficulty understanding the signs.

"I think that some people had thought that once you had these civic addressing signs all you had to do was call 9-1-1 and give them your address and the ambulance would know where you were, but that's not quite the case. You still need to be able to tell the 9-1-1 operator, when you phone them, which road you live on and which municipality you live in. Then the signs make sense."

Cruise notes on the residents of the RM, Wayne Spakowski, has been installing the signs and has completed approximately a third of the process. He adds they received the signs late last fall so the work has been taking slightly longer than anticipated due to it being done in the winter. However, he says Spakowski aims to have finished installing the signs by mid-June, before haying season begins.
