A new board member's now sitting on the Portage Active Transportation Committee: Portage la Prairie School Division superintendent Todd Cuddington.

"The superintendent has always sat on that board since it was initiated," Cuddington explains. "So, I was really looking forward to bringing my voice ... it's a very dedicated group of people who are looking at ways to develop active transportation routes in the city. Certainly, from our side, it's a question of how we can make it accessible and safe."

Cuddington says over the last couple of generations, our students have been chauffeured back and forth to school by their parents. He'd like to see that change through more use of the pathways in the city. Cuddington fondly recalls walking with friends to school when he was young and says he'd like to see our kids have those kinds of memories too. He says Portage is safe enough and pathways are improving to help in that regard.
