Southport Airporta and Commercial Properties held their AGM yesterday in the almost completed Central Plains RecPlex.

CEO Peggy May gives her thoughts on the year that's passed.

"2015-16 was another great year. Yes, certainly positive financial results, and we were able to not only start this building, but we've also finished the day care, which is great. We've done some great work on-site, gained some new tenants, and we've done a little bit of capital improvements all around the site, and we're thrilled."

May lists a few of her highlights.

"The biggest highlight for me is the day care. It not only brings new jobs to the area, but it brings 30 new spaces to a community that needs the spaces, the military needs the spaces, but the region actually needs the spaces too. This RecPlex is going to be an amazing facility. It's taking a little longer than we thought, but it's only going to be for the betterment of the facility at the end of the day."

Portage Day Care Executive Director Lisa Voth gives her thoughts on the new day care space.

"This project -- I think -- has been something the community has needed for many, many years. With Southport's vision, and their desire to move forward and be progressive, this is just a step that's been really needed. We're so pleased and so excited to be a part of that. Southport Corporation is amazing to work with, excellent people, and I just can't wait to get in here."

May adds they'll continue to try and build their brand through the community and across the country.
