Southport's 3CFFTS students were out on Highway 240 south of Portage Thursday afternoon being good neighbours cleaning up the roadside of debris.

3CFFTS captain Mark Niles (far left)"The Portage Community Revitalization Corporation provided us with a lot of the equipment that we're using," says multi-engine instructor for 3CFFTS captain Mark Niles. "They provided the cloth gloves, pick-up sticks, the garbage bags, and safety vests. And we're working with Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation who provided us with some safety road signs for the crew just to warn other drivers that we're out here."

He says the whole school was out for the sunny day, and they're taking the garbage to the dump hill south of the bypass where the city agreed to pick it up for them.
