Stonewall RCMP are investigating a fatal collision in the RM of Woodlands. Emergency crews were called yesterday afternoon at approximately two o'clock, to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 6, near Road 86 North.

The initial investigation revealed a car travelling northbound crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a pickup truck. Both vehicles caught fire after impact.

The lone occupant of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the truck was pulled to safety by two witnesses, who stopped to provide assistance. He was airlifted by STARS Air Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the collision is not yet known, and the investigation into the incident continues. No other details have been released by police at this time.
