The Tiger Hills Hockey League Playoffs get underway for both the MacGregor Wild and the Gladstone Lakers tonight.

The Wild finished in sixth place and go up against Carberry in game one of their best-of-five series tonight in MacGregor. General Manager Tanner Nicol says they didn't finish the season as strong as they would've liked.

"Those last couple of games weren't too great but we were missing a few key players for those ones. The few games before those though we were clicking pretty well, and as long as we play like that I think we'll be okay."

The Plainsmen have won both meetings against the Wild this season, one 5-4 and one 9-3. "They've got some skilled players and a couple of big guys," says Nicol. "We expect them to move the puck pretty fast, so we'll need to stay on the tips of our toes so we can react and play hard."

"The end result we're hoping for is to move on to the next series," adds Nicol. "We'd be pretty happy if we can take them to five games. We'll definitely battle and hopefully, come out on top."

Nicol adds they're looking forward to some playoff hockey in MacGregor.

The Gladstone Lakers kick off their series with Cartwright tonight on the road. The Lakers finished fifth in the standings while the Clippers finished fourth, and the season series is tied at one with both teams winning on home ice. The series could go five games but game one is tonight at 8:30 in Cartwright.

There's one other game one tonight. Pilot Mound is in Hartney and that game goes at 8.

Deloraine is in Souris for game two of their series. Souris leads the best-of-five 1-0.
