The Westpark Royals' varsity girls basketball team was eliminated from the Zone 4 playoffs last night. They fell 50-46 to Shevchenko in the semi final, in a tight race right down to the wire. Royals' Grade 12 player Taylor Pryor says it was a great final season.

"It's just been really good. We've come out first, tied for first, and we've had good attitudes -- and I think that's what matters -- and we've played as a team and that's really helped us along the way."

The Royals' basketball season isn't completely finished, as Pryor says they're looking to extend the season as long as they can.

"Because we lost this game doesn't mean we're not going to Provincials, as we've got that tournament coming up. We're excited to just play more ball, and try our best."

Westpark's Junior Varsity boy's and girl's basketball teams are in Zone 4 action tonight.

They visit Northlands Parkway tonight, in their final regular season match-ups of the year. The Royals' JV girls are first at 6 p.m. and Head Coach Brian Brewer sets up tonight's game.

"We'll they're a 4A school, and we played them once earlier in the year and it was a close game. So we're going into their gym, we've improved and I'm sure they have, so we just have to play our drawn defense, and fast break like we've been doing and we should be okay."

The JV boys follow at 7:30 p.m.
