The final round robin matchup for Portage Terriers at the Western Canada Cup will be against the host Penticton Vees on Thursday May 4th. Despite being guaranteed a spot at the tournament as the host team, the Vees earned their way there by winning the BCHL Championship. Penticton has been the cream of the crop in the BCHL for a number of years now, winning the RBC Cup in 2012, the Western Canada Cup over the Terriers in 2015, and the league championship this season. Penticton finished the season third in the league with a record of 41-13-1. They won all three rounds of the playoffs in 7 games. The Vees have six 20 year old players including two from Manitoba; former Terrier Taylor Sanheim and Brandon product Duncan Campbell. The Vees are big on the back end with six of their seven defensemen over 6'1”.
