Try-outs are being held for the U-16 2016 Central Region Girls Basketball team, who will compete at the 2016 Manitoba Summer games in Steinbach.

There will be three try-out sessions, with one being held on April 9th in Winkler at the Emarado School, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The second session will be held April 16th at the Arthur Meighen School in Portage. This will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

A final session will held on April 23rd, in Winkler at the Garden Valley Collegiate.

"There are six regions at the Manitoba Summer Games," said Co-Coach Mark Hamm. "They have games lined up for us August 7th to 10th in Steinbach. There will be a good amount of games as I understand. They will be housed just kind of how they were housed here (Winkler), during the Manitoba Winter Games. This will make it a great social event, as well as a very competitive event."

Hamm noted they are unsure as to how many girls they will attend the try-outs, but encourages everyone who is interested in being a part of this team to come out and try.

"It is somehting that no body needs to be afraid of. Try-outs have this big up on a pedisteil type of thing. The one thing I've come to as a coach is you are guaranteed not to make the team if you don't try out. The worst thing is you may get cut and you are right where you started. There's a chance you may make the team, and there's a chance you make the practice squad."

The cost to attend these try-outs is a time fee of $25.
