The Portage Collegiate Trojans football team is moving on to the CTV Bowl finals.

They were able to overcome the Garden City Fighting Gophers 51-7 at Investors Group Field in Winnipeg. This was a team the Trojans beat in the first game of the season but this time it was by a larger margin. Head coach Donald Burrell talks about the key to tonight's victory.

"Definitely, again, the offensive line," says Burrell. "Ian McCutchin at quarterback made some outstanding throws downfield. He actually used his legs quite a bit today, putting us in good scoring positions. So, the offense was the catalyst of this team today and our offensive line was once again one of our most dominate parts of the game."

PCI now has a combined point differential of +380 in just nine games played this year (including the two playoff games). They have also only allowed their opponents to score a double-digit point total three times this season.

The Trojans have had an extremely impressive season, coach Burrell describes how happy he is for his players.

"I'm so proud of this football team for the season that we've had," says Burrell. "We're 9-0 and we put up 50 points again. It's the comradery of this team that has managed to put ourselves in a position to now be in the championship game. I'm just hoping Portage can get behind us, support us, and come out and cheer us on."

PCI will now be moving on to the opponent that gave them the most trouble this year in the Miles Macdonell Buckeyes who they only beat by two points.

That game will take place on Saturday, November 16th at Investors Group Field in Winnipeg at 1 PM.
