The PCI Trojans Football Club's awards banquet was earlier this week in Portage la Prairie.
Several players picked up a custom made plaque as well as a great picture memory frame of them in action. Grade 12 Gage Foster picked up the Top Grad award for being the best graduating player this season. "It's been a great experience," says Foster who finished the year with 15 carries for 236 yards, 12 receptions for 190, and six touchdowns. "It kind of sucks leaving the team in my last year. I don't know what I'm going to do from now on but I know it was fun."
Kicker Connor Green took home the top special teams player in his first year of football. He says he's always enjoyed watching the sport and felt it was time to get away from soccer for a little while. "I wasn't expecting to do this good because a soccer ball and a football are obviously different," says Green after Head Coach Brent Irwin praised him for his incredible season. "I didn't know how I would kick it, I definitely didn't expect to do so good this year."
Green plans to continue with the Trojans next season and he's excited about their future.
"We have a good group of guys. I'm going to miss the graduating players, but I'm really looking forward to next year to see how well we can do, and the players we have coming up."
