The PCI Trojans open their Zone 4 Hockey Season today on home ice against Garden Valley Collegiate.

The Trojans finished 17-7 last season, and were swept by Morden in the semifinal. General Manager Mark Essay says it's important for them to build off last year's season.

"We had a really successful season, and we've lost some key players and our top 3 goal scorers. So it's really important for those Grade 11 players -- now Grade 12's -- to step up and carry the torch."

The Trojans have 9 returning players, which Essay says is a pretty normal number. He adds the older players are going to need to start producing if they want to be successful this season.

"Right now we're definitely more of a defensive team, as I said, we need some of those players to get up there and score offensively. In our preseason, we didn't have a lot of wins, but our goal scoring was coming from a lot of the rookies."

Puck drop is set for 7:30 at the PCU Centre.
