It was a tough night on the ice for the PCI Trojans last night, as they were handed an 8-1 loss by the Prairie Mountain Mustangs in the Zone 4 High School Hockey League.

With the win the Mustangs remain undefeated on the season, while the Trojans remain in second with 28 points. PCI forward Jaggar Barrault had the only goal for the Trojans in the game. Head Coach Mark Essay knew it was going to be their toughest game of the season.

"They're 18-0, we knew it was going to be a big game. I think we kind of came out jittery, they had 3 goals on us in the first few minutes. We settled down at times, and we played some good hockey. I think they've gotten way better since the beginning of the season -- we're certainly better than we were at the beginning of the season -- but we need to be better than that if we're going to contend with them in the playoffs."

Essay was proud of the team's ability to push on, despite the lopsided score.

"We kept playing. There was a lot of anger and frustration -- and sticks being thrown -- there in first 10 minutes, and the guys settled down and kept playing. That's what you've got to do, and playoff hockey is all about that. Getting that momentum going again in your favour and just not giving up."

The Trojans are off until Thursday when they host the GVC Zodiacs at the PCU Centre.
