The PCI Trojans are Manitoba high school baseball provincial runners-up.

The Trojans went undefeated through round robin play over the weekend, and after beating Neepawa in the quarter-finals, found themselves up against host GVC in the semis. Trojans' head hoach Jay Dewis says GVC tied it late to force extra innings.

"In that game Brody Moffat pitched extremely well, and he went all 7 innings. They scored to tie it up in the top of the 7th, we didn't panic, we got some key hits -- extra base hits -- to tack on 4."

The Trojans fell 3-2 to Dauphin in the championship final. Dewis says it was a tough loss, but he's proud of his team's season.

"A great season for the guys, extremely proud. They're a good group to coach, and just a little bit disappointing in the end that we probably came up a few hits short of that final game."

The Trojans will only be losing one player in the off season, and Dewis is looking forward to 2017.

"Pretty much besides losing Jared Roy we're likely going to roll out the same team next year. So we'll hopefully build on this, and go after again next year."

Lane Taylor, Joey Moffat and Brody Moffat were all named tournament all-stars.
