Portage Ringette is having another successful season. This year, Portage Thunder U-10 Ringette has two teams and both had rough starts to the season until they were reseeded to another division early this month.

The teams entered the Selkirk Snowman Classic Tournament before Christmas and the girls were very excited to go away and stay in a hotel.  This was a first for a few of them.

In that event, they lost all three games on Saturday, but improved each game. The girls thought they were finished. They were told there was one more game on Sunday and that would be the most important game.  They had one of their best games of the year and the game was very close, back and forth the entire two 18 minute halves, and ended in a 6-6 tie.

Three players were chosen before the end of the last period to do a shootout if needed and it was. The first Portage player missed, as did the first Selkirk player.

The second Portage player scored and the second Selkirk player missed again. The third Portage player scored to secure the win.

The final score was 8-6 for Portage Thunder over Selkirk Stingers for the bronze medal.

The team continues to learn and have plenty of fun. The bronze medal was a nice way to cap off a very fun weekend.
