The Central Plains Cup Women's Soccer Tournament is this weekend at Rotary Republic Park in Portage la Prairie.

The Portage Blaze's annual tournament kicks off this morning at 10:30, with the Blaze's first game at 11. Portage Blaze's Head Coach and Tournament Coordinator Bryan Mintenko's looking forward to the 8 team tournament and says spectators will be able to enjoy more than just the exciting games.

"We'll have a beer gardens on site, and a barbecue set up at the beer gardens. So if anyone wants to come by, we have games going all day, and it would be great if we could get some fans out to watch, and the beer gardens will be set up right by field 23."

Mintenko says the penalty kick competition is always an exciting event.

"We schedule the shootout in the afternoon on Saturday, just prior to the final set of games, so all the teams are there who have just completed their games. So people sit up on the hill and watch the shootout."

Blue United and the Brandon Snipers kick off the tournament at 10:30 a.m. The Blaze's first game is at 11 against Brandon Chaos on Field 24. Get the full draw here.
