A Teulon athlete is the recipient of two athletic scholarships.

Earlier in the summer, Jacey Ledochowski was one of four Manitobans to receive the 2020 Credit Unions of Manitoba Scholar-Athlete Award. Now, she has also been awarded the Manitoba Foundation For Sports scholarship for $500. This award recognizes student-athletes who excelled in their sport but also in academics. Ledochowski describes what it was like to add another scholarship to her resume.

“It feels amazing, of course,” says Ledochowski. “It makes me realize that all the hard work that I have put into sports and academics really paid off in the end.”

Ledochowski is attending Lake Region State College this year and has just begun her first term. She received a scholarship to play softball for the school which she will be starting up in the spring.

She says it has been and will definitely be weird not being able to come back and visit friends and family due to COVID-19. However, she says she has been adjusting well through her first few days.

Ledochowski describes how playing sports at Teulon Collegiate helped prepare her for the road ahead.

“Sports, for me, has always felt like it has opened me up to people,” explains Ledochowski. “I’m really good at talking to people now and I’m really good at expressing feelings and expressing what we need to do better. So, sports has really prepared me for that part of college.”
