It was a come from behind win for the Portage Terriers yesterday as they ended the regular season in Waywayseecappo. Terrier forward Jeremey Leipsic had a special game. He recorded a goal and an assist, including the game-winner, to reach 100 points.

The first period started with some early scoring chances for Portage but the Wolverines would get on the board first. Trevor Kavanaugh found the back of the net with a point shot over Brock Aiken's shoulder on the power play. Josh Martin would tie it for Portage before the end of the frame with a soft shot that found its way through Mckenzie Chalmers.

Kavanaugh would score again for Waywayseecappo to start the second period; he fired home a slap shot on a partial breakaway. He would complete the hat-trick at the end of the second frame when he knocked home a rebound in the high slot. Portage would draw back within one 30 seconds later off a goal from Ty Enns.

The Wolverines would once again extend their lead to two goals early in the third period. Quinton Cubbon snapped one home on a two on one rush. Portage wouldn't say die as Ty Barnstable finished off a pretty tic-tac-toe play on a fast break. Ryan Sokoloski would tie the game a minute later with a goal mouth scramble; Leipsic had the assist.

Sitting with 99 points late in the game Leipsic was put out on the ice regularly trying to reach the century mark. With less than two minutes to play, Sokoloski took a 2-minute minor penalty for interference. With 50 seconds left, the game tied and the puck on his stick, Leipsic deked out 2 defenders and scored short-handed. In dramatic style, he now has officially won the MJHL regular season scoring title.

Brock Aiken made 23 saves in the win. It was a relatively clean game with each team taking just 2 minor penalties and 1 fighting major. The Terriers are now off until Friday when they will start the playoffs in Selkirk.
