The Portage Terriers never looked back from 4 quick goals as they steamrolled the Waywayseecappo Wolverines last night 8-1.
The Terriers were playing without key contributors like Dean Stewart, Brett Orr, Turner Santin and Michael Knaub. They called up defensemen Austin Friesen and Lane Taylor and Jared Roy up front yet still played with one man short.

The first period was all Portage as the line of Brad and Shawn Bowles with Nick Henry, looked dominant. Adam Wowryk opened the scoring getting a lucky bounce off a defenceman in front. Braydon MacDonald tipped one home and Brad Bowles chipped one in to make it 3-0. 8 seconds after Bowles' goal Chase Brakel got his first of the night, finishing a nice play by Ryan Sokoloski.
The Wolverines would start the second with a new goalie. Greg Harney got the hook after letting in 4 goals on 19 shots in the first. Troy Martinyiuk would come in to finish the game. The Terriers ran into some penalty trouble in the second period and The Wolverines got on the board with a nice passing play finished off by Ty Enns. This is as close as Waywayseecappo would get as Adam Wowryk got his second of the night before the end of the frame.

Shawn Bowles scored a beauty from the slot in the first minute of the third. The pace of play started to slow down as both teams started to realize the inevitable outcome of the game. The Terriers would get their fourth line involved late in the game as Central Plains Capital Jared Roy assisted a Brandon Stanley goal. Brakel would get his second of the night late in the third to make it the final of 8-1.
Nathan Park wasn't truly tested as he picked up the win in net; stopping 28 of 29. The Terriers are back in action on Friday when they head to Selkirk. The game will be broadcast on CFRY and portageonline.com starting with the pregame show at 7:20pm.
