It's now a best of three. A strong performance last night from the Portage Terriers lead to a 4-1 victory over the visiting Selkirk Steelers. The best of 7 MJHL quarter-final series is now tied 2-2.

Selkirk would get on the board 1:25 into the first period on the powerplay. Josh Martin took a two-minute penalty for interference and Nathan Hillis made him pay by knocking home a rebound in front of the net.

Portage would tie things up halfway through the period and wouldn't look back. Ty Barnstable took a great feed from the corner and slammed the puck into the wide open cage. Josh Martin kept his playoff point streak alive picking up an assist. The Terriers would register one more at the end of the period to take their first lead since the second period of game two. Ryan Sokoloski threw the puck at the Selkirk net, it caromed off a Selkirk skate and bounced over the shoulder of Hayden Dola. Takato Cox and Nick Doyle registered their first points of the postseason with the assists.

The second period was filled with four straight Terrier penalties. They managed to kill off all four, and still outshot Selkirk in the frame 11-7. Not wanting to relinquish their lead, Portage came out strong in the third period. Ty Enns provided some insurance for his team burying a one-timer on the power play.

Terrier goaltender Kurtis Chapman would stand tall as the game wore on, stopping everything that came his way. He finished the night with 26 saves on 27 shots. Jeremey Leipsic added the empty net goal with less than a minute left in the game to put it out of reach.

Game five will be Friday night in Selkirk at 7:30 pm. The game will be broadcast on CFRY and Portageonline.com with the pregame show starting at 7:20 pm.
