The 2016 MJHL Champions only have one more practice at the PCU Centre, before they hit the road to Estevan for the Western Canada Cup. The Terriers will hold their final local practice tonight, before leaving for Saskatchewan in the morning. Terriers' Assistant Coach Paul Harland notes while they took a short time off after their Turnbull Cup win, they've spent this whole week on the ice.

"We got back to practice Monday, so we've had some good practices. Last night was a really good practice and we expect we'll have a good practice today. We'll board the bus for Estevan tomorrow. Once we're in Estevan we'll get to our hotel, go for a practice there tomorrow night, and then we'll be ready to go Saturday at two o'clock."

The Terriers came second at the Western Canada Cup last year, and had a berth to the RBC Cup as the host team. While described as a rebuilding year prior to this season, Harland says they're once again entering the tournament with a strong group.

"This year's team has been somewhat of a surprise for most people, including the coaching staff in the beginning, but once we got going we thought 'we have a pretty special group here'."

While the Terriers had a strong showing at last year's western championship, Harland admits there's a bit more pressure this year. While the Terriers were guaranteed a spot at the RBC Cup in 2015, Harland says they'll need to work hard to ensure another appearance at the national championship.

"There was really no pressure. We wanted to do well and show well, which we did, losing in overtime in the final. This year, there's no guaranteed berth so we need to finish top two. So our goal is to get into the playoff round, then from their get to top two, and get the to RBC."

The Terriers hit the ice in the first game of the Western Canada Cup at three o'clock Saturday afternoon, as they take on the Melfort Mustangs.
