The Portage Terriers are on home ice tonight.

They host the Winkler Flyers at the PCU Centre for the second time this season. They Flyers are up 2-1 on the season series with the dogs, and sit 4 points ahead of them in 3rd place. Terriers' Head Coach Blake Spiller expects another battle tonight.

"They're a quick club with a veteran group on the back-end, and they've got solid goaltending so far. It's going to be a tough match like every other one has been, and hopefully we get off to a better start than we have the last couple."

The Terriers have needed extra time to get the win in their last 2 games, and have been running forwards as defensemen to deal with all their recent injuries. Rookie defender Layne Toder's back from injury. "I'm really looking forward to getting back in the line-up," says Toder. "We just need to start playing simple hockey and play physical. Play our style of hockey and just bring it every game."

Forward Scott Mickoski's been playing on the back-end while the Terriers have been dealing with injuries. He's back up front tonight and says they really need to get their forecheck going.

"All 4 of our lines are fast and can get the forecheck on them. Once we get on their defense and make some checks, hopefully they'll start to shy away and maybe make a couple turnovers down low which can produce into offense."

The Terriers and Flyers go at 7:30 at the PCU Centre. Catch the game on CFRY and Portage Online. The pregame show starts at 7:20.
