A third period rally wasn’t quite enough for the Portage Terriers.

Jake Dudar played overtime hero, as the Selkirk Steelers survived surrendering a two-goal lead, edging the Terriers 3-2 in overtime Saturday night at the Selkirk Recreational Complex.

Selkirk led 2-0 heading into the third period, then Ryan Hendrix and Chase Brakel scored for Portage, tying the game 2-2. Dudar lifted the hosts to a 3-2 win 1:22 into overtime.

Connor Barley and Cole McCartan also scored for the Steelers.

Hayden Dola made 26 saves in the win, while Brock Aiken stopped 28 taking the loss. Selkirk outshot Portage 31-28 while going 0 for 2 on the power play; Portage finished 0 for 1.

The Terriers (31-15-3) are off until Thursday, when they head on the road to face the Waywayseecappo Wolverines (11-32-4). Portage has won three of the first four meetings against Waywayseecappo this season.
