The Portage Terrier offence was firing on all cylindersin MJHL action last night at the PCU Centre as they pounded the OCN Blizzard 8-2. Portage netted the first goal of the game early in the first period with a beautiful breakaway goal from Ryan Sokoloski. His night didn't start nearly as smooth as he caught a puck on the chin in warm up and required stitches. Sokoloski had a great performance throughout the night adding two assists and receiving plenty of high quality scoring chances. A quick point shot off of a faceoff tied the game for OCN before the end of the first. A physical first period saw shots on goal even at 9 a piece.

Things took off for the Terriers in the second period. Just 58 seconds in Chase Brakel gave the Terriers their lead back as he finished off a nice pass from Riley Thiessen. A minute later Michael Knaub finished off a 2 on 1 to make it 3-1. Nick Henry would capitalize later in the period finishing off a series of nice passes. Knaub tipped home his second of the night a few minutes later.

Midway through the third period the Blizzard brought the deficit to 3, but it just wasn't enough. The hat-trick would be complete for Michael Knaub when he sniped one "bardown" off the rush less than a minute after the goal from OCN. Penalty trouble has plagued Knaub in the past, but on this night he had a nose for the net. Portage would add goals from Ryan Hendrix, his 3rd in his last 4 games, and another from Chase Brakel.

The Terriers play their final game before the Christmas break, tonight in Neepawa at 7:30pm.
