It was the Portage Terriers Awards Banquet last night at the Canad Inns in Portage la Prairie.

Terriers' Captain Brad Bowles was the big winner of the night -- taking home 5 awards -- and splitting two with his twin brother Shawn. Brad took home the Top Scorer, Best Defensive Forward, and Fan Favourite, along with the Award of Commitment and Dedication, and MVP. He feels one of his teammates was the most deserving of their award.

"I'd say it was probably Chase Brakel for the sportsmanship one. He's been great this year, and he's such a likeable guy and he does nothing wrong all the time."

16-year-old Nick Henry from Portage la Prairie took home the Terries' Rookie of the Year Award, along with MJHL Rookie of the Year, and says it was really unexpected.

Rookie of the Year was 16-year-old Nick Henry

"Really, really excited about it. Never, ever thought that was going to happen, but had a really great year playing with some really good guys. It's been one heck of a ride, and I just can't believe it all."

Defenseman Dean Stewart from Portage also took home two awards last night. He won Most Valuable Player for Central Plains, and Best Defensive Defenseman. He was honoured to be recognized.

"It was nice. Obviously there were a lot of good players up for awards today, and to know that I've been appreciated is a pretty nice feeling."

The Terriers play their final game of the MJHL season tomorrow night in Waywayseecapo. That game will be broadcast on CFRY and Portage Online, the pre-game show starts at 7:20 p.m.
