Two more Portage Terriers are up for CJHL Yearly Awards. Terriers' defenceman Brett Orr has a shot at CJHL Defenceman of the Year, while Brad Bowles is up for CJHL's Forward and MVP of the Year award.

Brett Orr finished the season with 13 goals and 29 assists in 52 games played. Orr is 1 of only 4 returning Terriers from last year's dominating RBC Cup championship team, and was named alternate captain for the 2015/16 season. Orr finished the playoffs with 2 goals and 10 assists in the team's 13 games. Earlier this season, Orr was named to the Canada West squad which won gold at the World Junior A Challenge and, to no surprise, was recently presented the Brian Kozak Trophy which is awarded to the MJHL's top defenceman.

Orr's thoughts on the nomination.

"I thought I had a pretty decent year, maybe not as good offensive numbers as lots of the other guys, but I thought the committee probably knew that I play a pretty complete game. Overall it's pretty exciting and I'm pretty honoured."

Other nominations for Defenceman of the Year include: Brinson Pasichnuk of the Bonnyville Pontiacs (AJHL), Penticton Vees' Dante Fabbro (BCHL), Oakville Blades' Patrick Kudla (OJHL) and Jonathan Fillion of Collège Français de Longueuil (QJHL).

Brad Bowles had an incredible year for the Terriers
Brad Bowles played all 60 regular season games for the Portage Terriers this year, finishing with a staggering 45 goals and 57 assists for an average of 1.7 points per game. Bowles is another 1 of the 4 returning Terriers from last year's MJHL championship and RBC Cup winning team. Bowles was named captain of the Terriers at the beginning of the season and stepped into his role well. Bowles finished the playoffs with the most points in the league with 7 goals and 17 assists. Bowles was also awarded the Steve "Boomer" Hawrysh Award which is given to the MJHL MVP.

Bowles comments on the nomination.

"It's definitely a good feeling but, I mean, it wasn't just me. My team helped me along the whole way and it's been nice playing with all the guys this year."

Other nominations for Forward of the Year include: Bobby McMann of the Bonnyville Pontiacs (AJHL), Penticton Vees' Tyson Jost (BCHL), Wellington Dukes' Luc Brown (OJHL) and Travis Mayan of the Melfort Mustangs (SJHL).

Other nominations for MVP of the year include: Bobby McMann of the Bonnyville Pontiacs (AJHL), Penticton Vees' Tyson Jost (BCHL), Wellington Dukes' Luc Brown (OJHL) and LaRonge Ice Wolves Kris Joyce (SJHL).
