Team Manitoba's 5-2 at the 2016 Everest Senior Men's Curling Championship in Digby, Nova Scotia.

Earlier in the week Team Manitoba, and Team Canada third, Dean Moxham, was taken to hospital for emergency surgery, and hasn't been able to compete in Nova Scotia. Moxham is currently recovering and will hopefully be able to compete at the World Senior Men's Curling Championship in Sweden on April 15th.

Team Manitoba Lead Dale Michie  says they've luckily had Dale Brooks, coach of Manitoba's women's Team, to fill in a bit.

"We've played 7 games now, and Dale's played 3 of them, and we've gone 4 of them 3-handed. He's going to play again tonight, and we hope he'll be in for both games tomorrow as well."

Michie says it's hard to replace a talent like Moxham, but they've been doing well on the ice.

"It does change the game quite a bit, and honestly we're just trying to struggle away and keep ourselves in the competition early on. Losing a player of Dean's calibre, you're never going to replace that, so you just kind of keep everything close. Strategy changes a little bit, and we're just trying to get enough wins to carry on to the next round."

He adds they're definitely enjoying the time in Nova Scotia.

"It's great, we've got a hotel room here overlooking the ocean, and it's quite nice. The people of Digby have been fantastic, very friendly, very supportive, and of course the sea-food's been fantastic."

Team Manitoba and Newfoundland Labrador are on the ice today at 5:30. They go tomorrow at 8 a.m. against Nova Scotia, and against BC at 12.
