The team Canada Senior Men's Curling Team leaves today for the World Senior Men's Curling Championship in Sweden.

Skip Randy Neufeld, Third Dean Moxham, Second Peter Nicholls and Lead Dale Michie won the right to curl as Team Canada by winning the 2015 Canadian Men's Senior Championship last year. Moxham and Michie both curl out of the Portage Curling Club, and Moxham's excited for their opportunity.

"Absolutely. As a group, all 4 of us have worked a long time in the game to have a chance to go and represent your country, let alone your province. So we're extremely excited and looking forward to the challenge."

There was a scary moment for the team a couple of weeks ago at the Everest Championship in Digby Nova Scotia. Moxham fell ill upon arrival, and was taken to the hospital for emergeny surgery. Luckily, he feels he's made a full recovery.

"Taking it easy, and making sure I've mended up okay. I'm doing real good, and looking forward to the trip, and everything should be okay when I get there. Before our first game on Friday we get 15 minutes practice ice, so I'll do my best to make it work at that point."

Moxham explains how things work when they arrive.

"We get a day and a half to kind of acclimatize, then we're right into it Friday afternoon against the host country, and then opening ceremonies that night. So an exciting start.

Team Canada's on the ice at 10:30 a.m. Portage time when they face Sweden.
