Tonight's the CJHL Prospects Game in Surrey, British Columbia, and Terrier Defenceman Dean Stewart is ready to hit the ice. He was named to team west earlier this month, as the only player for the MJHL selected. The annual prospects game provides a chance to showcase the top NHL prospects in the CJHL, who have been identified by NHL Central Scouting. Stewarts well aware that scouts will be watching the game closely, but hopes to approach the game like any other.

"I'm trying not to think about all the people that are going to be watching right now, I'm more focused on playing my own game. We're all here for a reason, and going into the game you just have to think about why they selected you, and playing the game you've been playing over the course of the year."

He says they arrived in Surrey yesterday, and his main focus at this time is to prepare for tonight's game. He says he still has some fitness testing to complete, but will be following his usual warm-up routine before the game.

It's been an exciting couple of months for Stewart, playing the CJHL Prospects game tonight, and playing for Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge, where the team took gold. Stewart describes his feeling as awesome, citing the combination of high-calibre hockey and meeting others who excel in the sport.

"Over the past couple of months I've made some new friends along the way. The CJHL game here has given me a chance to kind of have a reunion with some of the guys I met on Team Canada West. It's been really nice, playing a lot of good hockey but also meeting a lot of new people and creating new friendships."

The CJHL Prospects game is set for 9:05 Central, and Stewart will return to Portage tomorrow.
