Portage Minor Hockey Association's Squirt Tournament is this weekend at Stride Place in Portage la Prairie

Over 15 teams have made their way to town for two jam-packed days of hockey.

"The tournament officially starts this morning with the first game at 11 a.m. and the games are roughly an hour," says first-time coordinator Crystal Pritchett. "The kids really have a lot of fun, and they play really hard. There are teams coming from places like Stonewall, Stony mountain, Carman, and many others."

Pritchett says the tournament is also a great fundraiser for the three Portage teams.

"There will be a 50-50 through both days of competition, and there's a silent auction both days as well. It will end around 2 p.m. Sunday, and it should be really good because the pond hockey tournament is this weekend too, so we're hoping there will be a lot of traffic taking part."
