The Portage Thunder R4-U team made an appearance at yesterday's Winnipeg Jets game at the MTS Centre.

They were the 1st intermission's game of the night, and R4-U Thunder's head coach Scott VanDamme says the day started off with arriving to the game an hour early to meet a Jets' representative.

"They walked us down to the Timbits Dressing Room, and gave us a dry run of what we were doing. So from there they took us up to the stands, and after 5 minutes of the first period, we took the whole team down and got them dressed. At the first intermission we played a 3-and-a-half minute game."

VanDamme says there were a quite few highlights for the team, but meeting a celebrity was top of the list.

"After our game they took us back into our dressing room, and Mickey Moose came in for some team pictures with the girls. Some of the girls made up banners for the Jets, the girls at one point were briefly on the Jumbotron. So all-in-all it was a really exciting day for the team."

The Thunder were greeted with a large ovation from the crowd when they stepped onto the ice. He adds it was a really special day for all the players.
