The Southport Open wrapped up yesterday.

Farrol Asham took home the Men's side with a 71. Asham had a great time at the tournament, and says Southport's Dennis Heimpel has really turned the club around.

"It's interesting. I come out to Southport once a year or maybe twice, and it's a lot of fun out here. Dennis does a great job out here so we like to come out and support him. From years ago Dennis has done an amazing job out here. For what he has out here, it's terrific and a lot of fun."

Dianne McLean took the ladies side with a 97. She wasn't expecting to finish so high.

"Unexpected shock at winning this, so it's really nice."

McLean outlines why more people should be going to Southport for golf.

"If you like to golf, this is the place to learn and get better. A lot of long drives out here, so you can really drive it. If you like to drive, this is the course to come."

The Southport Golf Club is offering their 9-and-Dine Fridays which will run until the end of the season.
