The Tiger Hills Hockey League's officially up to 13 teams for the 2016-17 season.

The MacGregor Wild have been accepted into the THHL after the league vote passed last week. Wild Manager Tanner Nicoll says there's certainly a buzz around town about Senior Men's Hockey returning.

"It's been a long time coming. I think the last season was 2004, and we're definitely excited to have a team back and the community seems to be pretty pumped too."

Nicoll explains this isn't something they just threw together, as he's been trying to gauge interest for over a year now. He says they approached the league this summer with hopes of getting in, and President Wayne Deschouwer felt they'd have no problem. Nicoll says they came up with the Wild pretty quickly.

"We've got a logo set up, a little while ago actually, even actually before we were actually approved too. All the guys I knew that were interested and we'd been talking to, we narrowed some names down and Wild was what we've ended up choosing."

Nicoll says it can be tough managing the club while playing at the same time. He adds there's a couple things they'll need to start the season.

"We'd love to have people come and do 50/50 or work the door. We've got a coach, I guess we're still looking for assistant coaches too, and if there's more players interested they're still welcome to come out."

The MacGregor Wild are having an open tryout at the PCU Centre Friday night at 9:45, and Nicoll encourages anyone interested to come out. The THHL season won't begin until late October.

The Wild will be hosting a a steak, spud, and bud fundraiser -- along with a comedian -- on October 14th in MacGregor. Any businesses interested in sponsoring the Wild can get in touch with Nicholls at tnic14@hotmail.com
