The South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League Playoffs are set.

The SEMHL standings at the end of the Regular Season were Carman on top, Altona in second, Morden in third, Winkler in fourth, Portage in fifth, Notre Dame in sixth, and Warren in seventh. Carman earned a bye to the second round after locking in first place, the best-of-five quarter final round will see Altona vs Warren, Morden vs Notre Dame, and Winkler vs Portage.

This being the Islanders' first year in the SEMHL, GM Jeremy Brooks gives his thoughts on their season.

"If you look at the standings of the league, if we would've won that last game -- we would have finished second -- and losing it we finished 5th. So I think it's a really, really close league, and we've learned a lot. We've really adjusted to the league, and we've learned how to adapt, and we came in and had a strong second half."

Brooks says they've had some trouble with Winkler in the past.

"Part of our playoffs is showing that we can compete with these teams. We beat Carman and they were one of the top teams. We have seemed to struggle with Winkler for a little while there. So as long as we can figure them out quick, and if we can get on them early in a series, it'll really be a game changer. Hopefully it will give us some momentum if we can make it into the second round."

The Islanders and Winkler are the first quarter-final to hit the ice this 2016. Game one is tonight at 9 p.m. in Winkler.
