The Santa Clara Baseball League resumes tonight with 4 games on the schedule.

It's a battle between the top two teams of the 2015 regular season when Portage visits Minnedosa tonight. Padres' Pitcher Rod McLeod outlines what they need to do to be successful against the Mavericks.

"I think we need to start off on the defensive end against Minnedosa. The biggest thing for us every year is getting their starting pitcher off a groove, if we don't get their starting pitcher off a groove early they settle in and kind of take over the ball game. So we need to hit them early and often."

The 3 other games tonight include Austin visiting Neepawa to face the Cubs. Carberry hosts the Dauphin Brewers, and Ebb and Flow's in Plumas to take on the Pirates. Plumas' Head Coach Tom Yandeau's hoping they can carry over their play from last week.

"The main thing was timely hitting, and great pitching. Our starter went 6 innings, he got a little tired near the end of the 6th. He was throwing the ball well, and we actually played not too bad defense for the first time out."

All 4 games scheduled Wednesday night were cancelled due to rain throughout the region, and tonight's not looking much better with a high percent chance of showers this evening. We'll keep you up to date on all sports cancellations.
