The PCI Saints were in Kenora over the weekend for the Beaver Brae Soccer Tournament, where they captured second place. Saints' Head Coach Heather Schindel says it's an exciting time for the program.

"We're basically ecstatic at this point. This is the first time in 6 years PCI Saints' soccer has won anything. So we're pretty excited to take home a plaque for the school."

Schindel says it wasn't an easy weekend for the girls.

"In both games we started off slow, and both games in the round robin went into shootouts. It was like plus 4 the one day, we we woke up for the second there was actually ice on the ground."

PCI fell 3-1 to host Beaver Brae in the final, and Saints' forward Kelly Zdan and keeper Abby Wilson were each named MVP's of the tournament. Schindel says Wilson's performance was amazing.

"She was like a wall. She has nerves of steel, two shootouts in two games, it was incredible."

The Saints are back on the pitch today as they host Shaftesbury at 4 p.m.
