The PCI Saints improved their record in the Winnipeg Women's High School Hockey League to 8-2-1, following a win against River East yesterday.

The Saints outscored the River East 9-3 to pick up the home win at the BDO Centre and Head Coach Joanne Clarke-Gillespie says it was one of the better games the girls have played this season.

"That's probably one of the best puck moving games we've had. For one of the first times this year we had a very complete game. It was nice to see the girls playing with their heads up and moving the puck and cycling."

6 Saints players scored goals in the game with Bailey Grantham, Paige Swaluk and Kylee Nelson picking up 2 goals each and Maddie Shwaluk, Hailee Morriseau and Megan Inman netting the other 3 goals for Portage.

Gillespie says she's pleased with the way the team played yesterday, and notes they're really starting to come together well on the ice.

"We want to just keep playing consistently like we are and we want to just keep moving the puck like we're doing. We're trying to utilize our speed a little bit more. We're playing smart and efficiently and the lines are starting to click now as we saw with the puck movement."

With the win the Saints move up the standings and are temporarily in fifth place with 17 points on the season.

The Saints next game is Monday, the 14th where they'll try to extend their win streak, as they host the Oak Park Raiders at the PCU Centre.
