The PCI Saints finished 2-1 after last weekend's placement tournament for the Winnipeg Women's High School Hockey League.

The League's at an all time high of 24 teams, and they've decided to break things up into 3 division this season. The Saints have found themselves in the 'A' division after their success over the weekend. Saints' Head Coach Jo-Anne Clark-Gillespie's appealed for the club to be entered in the 'B' division this fall.

"It's not that we don't want to play in 'A' division, it's just that we have a lot of young girls that are either ringette players playing hockey for the first time, or some young girls who really haven't played a lot of hockey," says Clark-Gillespie. "So looking into next season I would rather play in 'B' so we can give them more time to develop."

The Saints have 16 skaters registered this year, which is the highest they've been at in a few years according to Clark-Gillespie. She says they were a little worried at the end of last season but they were able to recruit some younger skaters, and ringette players to come out for the team.

"If we go into 'A', what could end up happening is we spend a season chasing people and we can't compete, and it gets frustrating. That makes it hard to keep people next season," admits Clark-Gillespie.

The Saints will know their future in the next couple of days, the WWHSHL Regular Season kicks off October 11th.
