The PCI Saints worked their way to a 4-3 overtime victory today over the Kelvin Clippers in the Winnipeg Women's High School Hockey League.

The Saints were down 2-0 heading into the second period, and after surviving a strong push from the Clippers, Saints' Paige Shwaluk scored to narrow their lead to 1. The Clippers regained their 2 goal lead shortly into the 3rd period, and after that struggled to handle a buzzing Saints' offense. Bailey Grantham scored for the Saints to cut the lead back to 1, and with the Saints' net empty, Grantham netted her second to send the game to overtime. Saints persisted with their attack in the 3-on-3 overtime period, and Paige Shwaluk scored her second to win the game.

Saints' Head Coach Jo-Anne Clark-Gillespie says it was a real show of character to come-back the way they did.

"That was a pretty character building win, and showing what character and resolve they had. 4 minutes left -- down 2 goals -- we were outplaying them and we were pressuring them, their goaltender...we were making her come up with some huge saves. But they never quit, and we tied the game with 44 seconds left with the goalie pulled and we were able to win it on that 3-on-3 overtime."

The Saints next game is against Lorette at the PCU Centre Thursday afternoon.
