The PCI Saints won 5-1 over Westwood last night in West Winnipeg Athletic Conference Tier 2 action at Rotary Republic Park.

It was the Saints' final regular season match of the year, which was moved up from today because of poor field conditions in Winnipeg. Saints' Head Coach Heather Shindel says they fought through a tough first half.

"It was a little slow going. We were actually losing 1-0 at the half, but we started off against the wind -- which I think had a little bit to do with it -- but we all came together in the second half to score 5 goals."

Saints' Teetee Appah and Cassidy George each scored, while Emily Upgang netted 3. Schindel says they'll rely on secondary scoring, as opponents have take note of George's ability on the field.

"Yeah, especially since we've played Westwood before. I think they definitely had a feel for us. They knew who to cover," laughs Schindel.

The Saints should be hosting their semi final playoff game Thursday at Rotary Republic Park. They're just awaiting results from the league to determine an opponent and the location.

The PCI Trojans also wrapped up their WWAC Tier 2 season last night. They won 2-0 over Shaftesbury, and their first playoff match is set for Wednesday.
